Non
Surgical Treatment for Periodontal (Gum)
Disease
Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious
infection caused by an accumulation of
bacteria above and below the gum line.
Signs of Periodontal disease may include
bleeding gums, mouth odors, gum recession,
or loosening of teeth over time. Oftentimes,
there may be no symptoms at all until
the disease reaches advanced stages.
If left untreated, this progressive disease
causes destruction of the gum tissue
and bone surrounding the teeth often
leading to tooth loss. A growing number
of research studies have found direct
links between chronic Periodontal disease
and health problems such as diabetes
and heart disease.
Our Hygienists are very skilled and
proficient in the treatment of periodontal
disease
and will customize a program specifically
for you. With a new topical anesthetic
gel (TAC) we can avoid injections in
most cases for this treatment. We also
offer state of the art localized antibiotic
therapy (Arestin), which is proving
to be extremely effective in stopping
the
progression of periodontal infections.
